Objective: Students will be able to use informal counting strategies to find solutions, use manipulative (e.g., tiles, blocks) to model the action in problems, understand the commutative property of addition, and understand connections between numbers and the quantities they represent. Students will also be able to quickly see and label number collections of 1 to 10, use a variety of strategies to compose and decompose 1-digit numbers, represent addition and subtraction word problems and their solutions as number sentences, and demonstrate fluency and apply addition and subtraction facts to numbers up to and including 10.
