Problem Statement:
This should be posed as a problem that students will be addressing. This will be the focus of the learning experience.

To better prepare our students for the New York State Learning Standards and Performance Indicators for Algebra. We will map out our revised curriculum, aligning the curriculum with all standards and indicators. We will be attaching documents which will be used for instruction in our course next year. With each new unit we will be providing students with an outline. The outline includes the unit’s topics, essential questions, vocabulary, objectives, and a list of learning standards and performance indicators that will be covered.

Essential Question:
This is one focus question that promotes inquiry based learning and allows for multiple solutions and processes.

How can we be certain that all NYS Learning Standards and Performance Indicators are addressed in our curriculum at Ogdensburg Free Academy.

Steps for Implementing Learning Experience:

Review. align, and rank the New York State Learning Standards. Revise a currciulum that will include all such standards. Create learning maps which include objectives, lesson essential questions, vocabulary, attached notes and homework where necessary.

Instructional Modifications:
List all modifications to the classroom setting as well as those used to enhance learning for all students.

Learning focused has allowed us to review and revise our curriculum in order to better prepare the students for the Algebra regents. We use the curriculum maps as an introduction to each unit, reviewing all vocabulary, objectives and lesson essential questions. We refer to the curriculum map through each unit to review vocabulary and lesson essential questions.

Time used for Planning:
Time spent without students to prepare.

We will spend more than 30 hours working on this curriculum.

By previously working on the Algebra Curriculum in Learning Focused, we were able to make modifications to the curriculum easily. Because the program is constantly changing and adding new features, we are continually looking over and modifying the Algebra Curriculum. We believe that the constant modifications can only benefit our students.
