STEM Partnership Goals
2007-2010

The following is a list of Goals for the STEM Partnership.

Goal #1
Increase student achievement in mathematics and science.

Goal #2
Increase the development and implementation of effective instructional strategies for all students including interventions targeted to reach at-risk students.

Goal #3
Improve the teacher’s content knowledge of mathematics, science and technology.

Goal #4
Develop more rigorous mathematics, science and/or technology curricula that are integrated and aligned with State and local academic content standards and with the standards expected for postsecondary study in engineering, mathematics, and science.

Every teacher must have 60 hours of professional development per year:

35 Hours – Summer Institute (new content knowledge – measurable)

7 hours – SBR Workshop Rigor and Relevance and Creating Gold Seal Lessons – (creating learning units from the new content knowledge for the classroom)

7 hours – Technology Integration Workshop – (all learning units must integrate technology ie: smartboard, google earth, CPS, moodle, web 2.0 tools for teachers, elmo, geometer sketchpad, data collection probes, etc.)

7 hours – Classroom –“push-in” Instructional Specialists

7 hours – Peer Review – publish learning unit on the website

(SI or Workshop hours can be substituted by Coaching Hours)
