Lego/FTC Curriculum Development
Workshop for 5th-8th Grade math, Science, & Technology

FTC Robotics & Lego Robotics Overview
The workshop is intended for those teachers who have had prior training as a Lego or FTC robotics coach, e.g., as a result of having participated in a “Level 1” coaches training workshop offered by the Robotics Institute or having equivalent professional experience. This “Level 2” curriculum development workshop will use robotics technology to improve the professional content knowledge and pedagogy of grade 5-8 mathematics, science and technology teachers in the Saint Lawrence-Lewis BOCES
district. The week long, 37.5 hour workshop will be conducted by the Northern New York Robotics Institute: a STEM outreach partnership formed between Saint Lawrence University, Clarkson University, SUNY Potsdam and regional BOCES districts held on the Clarkson University campus from July 28-August 1, 2008. A $500 stipend will be paid to SLL-BOCES sponsored workshop participants, with an opportunity to apply for an additional $500 stipend through SLL-BOCES for completing workshop related professional development during the school year.
